Course Objectives To make students to gain the knowledge of fashion media and develop the skills on fashion journalism such as fashion writing, fashion editorial and styling practices.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Define the system and functions of fashion media
  • Analyze the kinds of texts that are written for fashion magazines, and insight in the journalistic techniques that are used
  • Make research into a specific subject in fashion journalism
  • Make informative and critical writing on trends, fashion events and designers
  • Develop their ability of styling and editorial skills
Course Description Within this course students will be made familiar with theoretical concepts which create a base for fashion journalism: criticism of fashion as a social/cultural phenomenon, criticism of fashion designers as artists/creators, criticism of the way people dress. Specific journalistic texts will be analyzed in class and be used as a basis for short pieces of critical writing by the students themselves. The students will have a better understanding of the functions of images in the magazines, along with advertising campaigns and editorials.By the end of the course they are asked to complete a part of a magazine with their own creative editorial and styling work.
